Soft Skills Community Talk

About This Contribution

I conducted a live session on the importance of soft skills in the technical world for the Code with Ahsan community. The talk was aimed at aspiring and working engineers seeking to understand how non-technical skills directly influence long-term career growth.

Rather than focusing on what soft skills are or why they matter, the session took a practical approach. I presented real-world scenarios drawn from my own professional journey, from student projects and local startups in Pakistan to working with global engineering teams in Berlin, and explored the lessons hidden within uncomfortable or challenging moments.

A key theme of the talk was that the real issue is often not the lack of soft skills, but the inability to recognize when they were missing and how those moments could have been used for growth. I introduced a simple, effective toolset based on reflection and self-assessment, encouraging participants to analyze past experiences, identify gaps, and practice intentionally.

The session emphasized shifting mindset, from blaming circumstances to using setbacks as opportunities for improvement, helping engineers turn everyday challenges into long-term personal and professional development.
