I delivered a technical talk at Frontend Nation 2024, one of the world’s largest frontend conferences, on the topic “Revamping Your Frontend Development Experience with the Backend for Frontend (BFF) Design Pattern.” The session was held online and brought together a global audience of frontend and software engineers.
The talk covered:
- Introduction to BFF: Defining the pattern and its core purpose.
- Implementation Strategies: Practical use cases and real-world applicability.
- Hands-on Demo: Showcase of frontend, BFF, and backend interactions through a sample application.
- Production Case Study: Insights from my experience migrating from a monolithic architecture to microservices using the BFF pattern.
The session focused on explaining complex architectural concepts clearly within a limited time, emphasizing developer experience, scalability, and maintainability. Slides and a complete code repository were shared publicly to support continued learning for attendees and those who could not join live.
